The Shook Museum at the Shook-Welch-Smathers House is the "Historic Pride of Clyde." The historic house was built in two different periods of history--circa 1800 and a large addition and remodeling in the 1890s. The Museum features early American pioneer architecture and construction. The earlier portion of this house was built in what was then the American's wilderness frontier. The Shook House has recently been listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
