Cherokee County Historical Museum

The museum offers a vast collection of artifacts excavated from Indian mounds and discovered in the local region. The museum reflects the life of the Cherokee Indian before and during the time of removal along the Trail of Tears, including Fort Butler where Indians were held near present day Murphy. Exhibits also include other items of local interest and tell the early life of the white man in Cherokee County.
